I WILL NOT INTERFERE THE CURRENTS CRISIS IN EITHER SUPP OR SPDP, SAYS TAIB

I'VE EARLIER ADVICE BOTH OF THE SUPP'S FACTIONS BUT THEY WON'T "LISTEN", ON SPDP'S CRISIS, WE HAVE WAIT A LITTLE BIT LONGER..I'M NO LONGER A SPECIALIST IN RESOLVING CRISIS 


CHAIRMAN of Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN) and Chief Minister Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud yesterday once again reiterated on his stands of his neutrality position regarding on the leadership issue which currently hitting both respective parties.

“I would not interfere in the current leadership crisis in both of either the State BN component parties; Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) and Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) directly.”

He said this to reporters at a press conference after attending the Kuching City South Council (MBKS) Ramah-Tamah Chinese New Year 2012 Open-house organized by respective council held at the MBKS Hall near the city here yesterday.


Taib said that being the number one leader in this State, he has not only to focus on the State’s political aspect but that all level of people are not left out of the government's transformation program.

"I am no longer a specialist who can resolve the crisis SUPP and as I mentioned earlier, I would not just simply intervene directly in any of the internal matters of any of the State BN component parties, especially when the issues regarding on the parties’ leadership crisis.”

"Before (the situation now), I had gave a lot of advices and express my ideas and own opinions (onto their crisis) however, it seems (that my advices and suggestions are) not relevant to them (SUPP) such that failing to resolve their crisis .. and to issue SPDP, we have to wait a bit longer," he added.


Elaborating more, Taib expresses he wants a leader in both the BN component parties involved in the leadership crisis to solve the problem immediately for the good of BN as a whole.

"It’s up to them to them, what we want is settle and deal this matter so that the impact of these crisis would not gave a negative effect in general, to BN .. the sooner  they can solve this problem, it’s better for BN," he said.
He also expresses his hopes for any movement or quarters representing the Chinese to be more “serious” to strengthen the unity among the people, especially for the Chinese Community.

SUPP internal crisis triggered due to the party’s Presidential post tussle between SUPP’s new president Datuk Seri Peter Chin and Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh just as the party was on the verge of its 21st Triennial Delegates' Conference (TDC) in December last year.


Their crisis turned to a deeper situation when the former deputy secretary-general of the SUPP (Soon Koh) and his factions has announced to boycott decision of the TDC which was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Meanwhile, SPDP crisis started after the president, Tan Sri Datuk William Mawan Ikom announced Sylvester Entries Muran, a member of SPDP 5, expelled from the party at the party's supreme council meeting last November.

Following that action, the remaining four leaders of the so-called Gang 5 have announced that they left the party, comes into effect last January 7.

Also present at the MBKS Ramah-Tamah Chinese New Year 2012 Open-house were Taib’s wife Puan Seri Ragad Kurdi-Taib, MBKS Mayor and the event’s organizing chairman James Chan Khay Syn, Second Finance Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, Minister of Infrastructure Development and Communication Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong, the event’s co-organizing chairperson Datin Hanifah Alsree-Taib and other distinguished and invited guests.
