FOREIGNERS' BIOMETRIC REGISTRATION CRUCIAL FOR NATIONAL SECURITY

THAT IS WHY IMMIGRATION DEPARTMENT WORKS SO INTENSIVELY ON THIS MATTER AS IT ALSO INVOLVES THE SECURITY OF THIS NATION
THOSE CAUGHT AFTER THE AMNESTY PROGRAM EXPIRES MAY BE FINED OR JAIL OR BOTH
THE registration and Bio-metric registration of illegal or legal migrants is vital for controlling their movements in this State and Malaysia in general, apart from gathering important information of the foreigners for this country’s future planning or programs.

Sarawak Immigration Department Director Datu Robert Lian disclosed this to UnReportedNews™® after attending a press conference at the Immigration Department Office located on the 17th floor of the Sultan Iskandar Building at Simpang Tiga near the city on last Thursday.

“It is crucial for the Immigration Department to know how the exact figure of how many illegal or legal foreigners in our State and country had entered and stayed here for the purpose of National security,” said Robert with elaborating more on the security issue.

“We also need to keep a track record of all the foreigners in our State otherwise, all the foreigners would overstay illegally and assimilate with the locals and later, makes attempts to apply for citizenship."

That is why the Government through the immigration Department had worked so intensively on this matter as it also involves the issue involving the security of this Nation, he added after making an announcement on the Sarawak Government’s decision to extend the period for the Amnesty Program during the press conference.

The Amnesty Program was supposed to end December 15th was further extended to December 31st this year and he reminded the employers to use the "second chance" of Amnesty Program or face hefty  consequences after the period expired.
