The total development projects in Santubong Parliamentary
constituency which are considered having “minor set-backs” which is less than
30 per cent of the overall 100 over varieties of projects.
Member of Parliament for Santubong Datuk Dr Haji Wan
Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said that a majority of these so-call “set-backed”
projects has been identified caused by the contractors whom failed to meet the
dateline to commence their work at the site due to various reasons.
“Although, some of the projects had been tenderized to
commence the work since June this year, some of the sites had not been touched”
at all,” said Junaidi adding that the usual reason for not meeting the
commencing date are financial, manpower and others.
“To tell you tell you frankly, all the hard work and
initiative dedicated by any Member of Parliament to allocate the funding for
any development projects in his or her area will literally go into the drain as
the funding would be given back to the federal should the project failed to
start.”
He explained although most of the set-backed projects
were below RM300,000.00, it is still a waste as it will benefit many of the
people in the area where the projects were supposed to be erected.
Junaidi, who is also Deputy Speaker of Parliament
disclosed to UnReportedNews™® that for this year alone (2012), he had
managed to “milk-up” nearly RM18 million worth development projects he had
mentioned earlier.
Accompanied by his wife Datin Hajah Feona Sim Abdullah,
Junaidi was met after attending the presenting ceremony of the “Touch-Point
Cheques and Emergency Allocations” in conjunction with the breaking and fast
session for his Parliamentary constituency held at a hotel near the city here
on Wednesday evening.
“To ensure the contractors will work up to schedule, the
community nearby, especially community leaders, village heads, grass root
leader and those concerned to have the initiative of being pro-active by
continue to monitor the projects.”
Pointing out that, government department and agencies
such as the Public Work Department (JK) and others are doing all they can to
monitor the situation however, it is quite impossible to monitor all and might
had overlooked some of the cases.
“For even more effectiveness, any of those he mentioned
earlier that could lend a hand to the government, if possible please report in
writing for future references relating to the matter.”
The total amount of the cheque presentation were
RM396,500.00; maintaining basic facilities for four respective villages
(RM100,000.00), 14-Emergency Allocation recipients (RM23,200.00) and 53-Special
Touch-Point Allocation recipients (RM246,300.00).
Also present were Santubong Pemanca Rashidi Junai, Pantai
Damai PBB Woman Chief Aminah Fatimah Junaidi, Demak Laut PBB Woman Chief Rokiah
