SARAWAK LACK OF INTERN TEACHERS?

-BARE IN MIND, AS WE SPEAK, THERE'S CHILDREN LEARNING WITHOUT ANY PROPER GUIDANCE SOMEWHERE IN SARAWAK & IF WE CONTINUE TAKING LIGHTLY OVER THE STATE'S TEACHERS SHORTAGE ISSUE, IT WOULD EVENTUALLY EFFECT THEIR EDUCATION & EVEN THEIR FUTURE
THE Federal Ministry of Education are urged to look into the possibility of recruiting more trained teachers (intern) among local Sarawakians as another effective option to fill the vacuum left due to the lack of qualified teachers in this state, particularly in the schools located deep further in the rural areas.

“From the information obtained from the State Education Department (JPS), the current overall total of intern teachers needed to cover all the schools across Sarawak is 743 teachers however, the Federal Ministry of Education only approves 434 teachers, a shortage of 309, which is a big number.”

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Datuk Dr Haji Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar during an exclusive interview with UnReportedNews™® in Lundu on Wednesday pointed this out adding that he is very concern and considered the shortage of intern teachers in Sarawak an issue which needed to be dealt quickly as it involves the education of our children.

“Bare this in mind, as we speak, there are some schools somewhere in our state where our students are learning without the proper guidance and teaching from intern teachers and if we continue to take this matter lightly, it would eventually affect their education and even their future.”

Disclosing that his Santubong Parliament alone were in shortage of 24 intern teachers, Junaidi, who is also Member of Parliament for Santubong disclosed that he had already expressed his concern on the matter to the relevant and highest authorities including the Federal Ministry of Education and Deputy Prime Minister and also Minister of Education Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin.

“I have recently wrote an official letter concerning the matter and I had even informed Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin that I will bring up this matter to the pre-council meeting this coming March 12th in Kuala Lumpur as I see this matter needs to be given priority for a quick resolution.”

Junaidi said that during the forthcoming pre-council meeting, he intended to propose to Federal Ministry of Education and Muhyiddin to look into the possibility of recruiting intern teachers from the local people of that certain area which is in short teachers.

“From my personal point of view, I felt logically that one of the reason causing the shortage of intern teachers involves those from outside the area where they are assigned to schools in “unfamiliar territories” and literally considered strange to them, causing them to hesitate or reluctant accept their appointment.”

“The related agencies also should note the fact of being distanced so far away from their houses and families could be one of the reasons causing the shortage of intern teachers as many would prefer to stay close at their hometown.”

“I believe that my proposal of recruiting locals as intern teachers in their own state or areas is one of the solution to overcome the matter as being local and familiar with the areas they posted they are actually at their own “home” and this (solution) not only goes to Sarawak but the other state facing the same problem as well.”

Junaidi was interviewed after officiating the closing ceremony of the “Strengthening the Villages Development and Security Committee (JKKK) Management Course” and presenting certificates to more than 300 course participants at the Lundu District Community Hall near here which were also attended by Kuching Resident Abdul Rahman Sebli and Lundu District Officer Azmi Bujang.
