FISHERMEN'S HOUSE ASSISTANT SCHEME IN SANTUBONG WILL CONTINUE NEXT YEAR

The Government's Fishermen's House Scheme in the Parliament of Santubong constituencies would also be continued and implemented next year as for the overwhelming response to the scheme this year.

Member of Parliament for Santubong Datuk Dr Haji Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said that so far 167 news houses and more than 400 houses were listed in the scheme where some of them have been completed or still undergoing construction.

"I am very proud to say that Santubong is among the first Parliamentary constituency in Malaysia to had pioneered this scheme and I am very optimistic that Santubong would be given a bigger allocation for the similiar program after seeing the success of the scheme."

Junaidi, who is also the Deputy Speaker of Parliament said this to reporters after presenting the 1Malaysia laptop to 360 reciepients from the Demak Laut Legislative constituency in a ceremny held the Malaysian Produtivity Coorperation, Demak Laut near the city here yesterday morning.

He explained that as the chairman of Santubong Argicultural Development Council which is spearheading the program, he had instructed that the all of the houses repairing and contruction works will be conducted as promptly as possible.

"The maximum cost of repairing each house is RM12,000 however, the repairing cost would be determined by an appointed auditor while a new house would cost RM50,000," he said adding that the overall cost for this year's scheme is more than RM6 million.

Earlier in his speech, Junaidi reminded the laptop recipients and audience to appreciate the government and what had the government delivered to the people all this while and should continue to support the government so that more development can be implemented and delivered.

"Such as an example, many would take for granted that the 1Malaysia laptop is from the people's money than it is appopriate for the government to give it back to the people but bear in mind that not all government are that "so generous" and would give back to the people such as the Barisan Nasional (BN) which motto's "people's first, performance now."

A total of 182,268 1Malaysia laptop were allocated to Sarawak with 2,200 units to the Santubong through the
Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Junaidi was accompanied by his wife Datin Hajah Feona Sim Abdullah and also present at the ceremony were Demak Laut State Legislative Assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni and representatives from MCMC.
