-YOU CAN'T PRETEND OR FOOL THE PEOPLE THAT YOU ARE UNITED ALTHOUGH ACTUALLY IN REALITY, YOU'RE NOT, THE PEOPLE CAN SENSE WHETHER ITS GENUINE OR THE OTHERWISE-

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Datuk Dr Haji Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar stressed out that it is up to the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) themselves to determine whether they can defend their parliamentary seats in the forthcoming 13th General Election.

Junaidi who is also the Member of Parliament for Santubong was responding to question posed by a reporter regarding on his confidence whether SUPP will enable to defend their Parliamentary seats in the coming election or otherwise.

“You are asking me as if that I am a political expert but from my personal point of view, SUPP must be united first in its effort to regain back people’s support as people would not support any party whom their leaders themselves in that party are not united.”

He said during a press conference after presenting the “Touch Point Special Allocation” for the respective suraus and community bodies from Taman Puteri and Bandar Samariang at his office at the Santubong Parliamentary Service Centre at Jalan Kulas near the city here yesterday morning.

“You can’t just pretend or fool the people that you are united but actually in reality, you are not, the people can sense that whether it’s false or genuine,” he said adding that the politicking method used in the 70’s or 80’s can’t  be used anymore in the presently.

When asked what are the best remedy for the said-factions in SUPP to be united once more, Junaidi smiled and said, “Well, it just feeling and words, just make-up and let bygone be bygone and move forward for the sake of SUPP.”

Later when asked whether SUPP have any potential new young-blooded SUPP candidates that highlighted in the next General Election particularly for the Stampin Parliamentary seat to replace Member of Parliament for Stampin Datuk Yong Koon Seng who had announced of not defending his seat, Junaidi nodded and said yes.

“Not to interfere or meddle in SUPP’s affairs but I personally believed that SUPP Youth Secretary General and Kota Sentosa Branch Youth Chairman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin can be also be seen as a potential candidate for Stampin.”

Junaidi later disclosed that Wifred had worked closely with him in attending the matters relating to the Kota Sentosa community and believed Wilfred had much exposure in dealing with the people at the grassroot level hence making him a potential candidate.
