SARAWAK POLICE READY FOR ELECTION


-SARAWAK CP REVEALED THAT AN ESTIMATED 1,000 EXTRA POLICEMEN IS NEEDED TO REINFORCE THE STATE POLICE FORCE HERE TO BE STATIONED AT THE POLLING STATIONS, GUARDING POLL BOXES AND OTHER VENUES RELATED TO THE ELECTION PROCESSES-

Although the Sarawak Police needs as additional 1,000 policemen for the forthcoming 13th General Election (GE), should the GE is scheduled in June, the State police would have no problem in tackling the national affair.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Acryl Sani Abdullah said adding that the we (the police) have gone through so many elections in Sarawak therefore, they have no problems going through it again.

"I feel that we will have no problem as we have made so many preparation for the elections and although we are a bit lack of manpower, I believe we will maneged it by getting additional manpower from Bukit Aman."

Acryl disclosed that to the press yesterday responding to a question on whether the manpower in Sarawak Police is sufficient for the General Election and whether they are ready should the election will be held in June.

He revealed that an estimated 1,000 extra policeman is needed to reinforce the state police force here and to be stationed at the polling stations, guarding poll boxes and other locations or venues related to the election.

"Beside involving with the election-realted work, the policemen are needed for their normal duties too, watching over the people," he said.

On logistic related matters, Acryl said that he expected that they would not have any problem as they had also prepares for logistic; road, water and air and if not sufficient they would have to rent them from others sources.

He also disclosed that this coming Wednesday, he will have a meeting with all the police districts chiefs in Sarawak to up-date every information and final tunings of the election related matters.

Acryl was met by reporters after attending the ‘Sehari Bersama Jabatan Perbendaharaan Sarawak 2012’ roadshow at the Kuching waterfront yetserday which was officiated by State Secretary Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani.
