PRESENTATION OF WHOLESALE TOURISM CONSORTIUM'S PACKAGES BY NEXT WEEK

-UPON COMPLETION, THE CONSORTIUM ANNOUNCED BY CHIEF MINISTER PEHIN SERI HAJI ABDUL TAIB MAHMUD RECENTLY THIS MONTH WOULD CATAPULT OUR TOURISM INDUSTRY AT A GREATER LEVEL-

THE proposed packages for the “Wholesale Tourism Consortium” will be presented to the State Government to be reviewed either on the end of this month or in early April.

Assistant Minister of Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Development Datuk Haji Naroden Majais said this adding that presently, the proposed tourism packages are at its final stages.

“We expect to fully complete all the proposing processes on the tourism packages in the near soon and hope to present it to the Sarawak Government to be reviewed before these packages are introduced to the tourism players in this State.”

Naroden said this to reporters during an interview after officiating the “Majlis Bicara Bistari” programme which was held at the State Library’s Auditorium at Petra Jaya near the city here earlier this afternoon.

According to Naroden, upon completion, the “Wholesale Tourism Consortium” which was announced by Chief Minister Pehin Seri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud just recently this month would catapult the tourism industry to a higher stage.

“By standardizing all the tourism packages in Sarawak, the proses of promoting these tourism packages that we are offering would be a bit easier to the potential International buyers at a larger scale.”

Earlier in his speech, he said that apart from boosting-up the eco-tourism sector in this state, the Wholesale Tourism Consortium are opening a new door potential especially for the various ethnics in Sarawak.

“The Bumiputera tourism entrepreneurs can add items in their packages such Bidayuh marriage ceremonies, including transporting services from the airport to their destination and other traditional related packages which would surely attracts forieigners,” he added.

"Natural beauty is Sarawak’s advantages I believed that we take the opportunity to exploit our eco-tourism, it could enhance our tourism sector,” said Naroden.

More than 120 entrepreneurs and students attended the programme and also present were Unit Pembangunan Usahawan Bumiputera Director Kameri Haji Affendi and other distinguished guests.
