LAND & SURVEY DEPT WINS WORLD AWARD

-NOT ONLY LSD STAFFS SHOULD BE PROUD BUT ALL MALAYSIANS SHOULD BE TOO AS WE EMERGED THE BEST AMONG OTHER SURVEYING AGENCIES FROM ALL THE COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD-

SARAWAK Land and Survey Department (LSD) had internationally carved Sarawak and Malaysia’s name in the eyes of the world when it was adjudged as the winner in the 2012 Geospatial World Excellence Award for Governance of Land Administration and Land Management.

Disclosing this latest development, Minister of Resource Planning and Environment II Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hassan said that he himself would be flying off to Amsterdam in Holland at end of this April to receive the award.

“Not only that the LSD staffs should be proud for this highest recognition but all Malaysian too as LSD had been screened against many other agencies in the surveying field from all the countries all over the world.”

“This is truly a worldwide recognition for the LSD’s home grown Land and Survey Information System or more popularly known as LASIS,” said Tengah, who is also Minister of Public Utilities.

He elaborated that LASIS started off with a humble beginning in 1984 and were implemented in two phases with various enhancements and value-adding along the way through creative input, invaluable suggestions and feedback from the system users.

“LASIS, which is incorporated with GIS capabilities, contains information related to planning, land use, land value, land titles, cadastral information which allows for an intelligent sharing of information to facilitate decision-making of land development in the State.”

Tengah said that such high acknowledgement of LASIS at the international audience will spur LSD to continue to innovate its business processes so as to e able to offer better services for the people.

He said this in his speech before officiating the LSD’s Innovation and Integrity Day which was themed ‘Memperkasa Integrity Memacu Motivasi” held at a hotel near the city here yesterday afternoon.

Twelve KIK (Kumpulan Innovatif dan Kreatif) teams compromised from all the LSD across Sarawak participated in three day programme which saw inovatif-G (Bintulu) emerging as the champion with first runner-up Landas Tahai Q3 (Limbang) and second runner up Axis Paradox (Betong).

Also present at the press conference were Assistance Minister of Entrepreneur Development Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, Deputy State Secretary Datu Haji Misnu Haji Taha, Permanent Secretary o Ministry of Resource Planning and Environment Datu Sudarsono Osman, LSD Director Sajeli Kipli and other distinguished guests.
