SO, WHO’S THE BEST SUPP CANDIDATE TO REPLACE YONG KHOON SENG THEN?

DESPITE BEING “TOP CANDIDATE”, LO ADMITS THERE ARE OTHERS, MORE CAPABLE THAN HIM TO REPLACE YONG
IF CHOSEN AS CANDIDATE, I WILL GIVE MY BEST PERFORMANCE
WHETHER being humble or ‘playing it safe’ Padawan Municipal Council (PMC) Chairman Lo Khere Chiang on Thursday admits that there are much ‘better men’ than him to replace Member of Parliament for Stampin Datuk Yong Khoon Seng in the next forthcoming General Election (GE).

"I am not the 'best' candidate," said Lo adding that, "there are others that are much better and capable candidates than me to fill the replacement (of Yong) however, if given instructions by my leaders to do so then, I will give my best performance as I am doing now as PMC chairman."

Lo was asked by reporters of him being said (since several months ago) to be the top candidate to replace five-term Yong whom had indicated that he would not seek to be re-nominate and defend his Stampin Parliamentary seat in the forthcoming 13th GE anytime soon.

Lo earlier was obviously seems reluctant to answer and he even paused for a while when he was posed by the press to comment on the matter at a press conference after chairing a PMC meeting at his PMC’s office in Padawan yesterday.
IF SO, I CONSIDER IT AS PERFORMING A DUTY FOR MY PARTY AND THE PEOPLE IN STAMPIN

YONG KHOON SENG
"It is an old story (on him replacing Yong)...but if so, the instruction should come from the leader of my party (Sarawak United Peoples’ Party-SUPP) and Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN), then I consider it as performing a duty to my party and the people in that parliamentary constituency."

"That (the decision for me to contest in the General Election) is not for me to decide as it is for the leaders of my party and BN to decide," said Lo, who is also the SUPP Kota Sentosa branch secretary.

Well, whoever will be chosen as Yong’s replacement, he or she has a mountain to climb, particularly with the current “slight internal problem” in SUPP but with all of SUPP and other BN component parties working together, there is not a mountain too high for any BN candidate to conquer.

In the last 2008 GE, Yong garn 21,966 votes (50 per cent) against Voon Lee Shan (DAP) who only garn 18,896 votes (43 per cent), winning with the majority of 3,070 votes.
